- 1 lb Ground beef
- 1/2 cup Breadcrumbs
- 1 Small onion
- 1 Egg beaten
- 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tsp Garlic Powder
- 1 tsp Salt
- 1/2 tsp Black pepper
- 2 cups Beef broth
- 8 oz Mushrooms sliced
- 2 tbsp Cornstarch mixed with 2 tbsp of water for thickening
- 2 tbsp Olive oil for frying
Prepare the Patties: In a bowl, mix the ground beef, breadcrumbs, chopped onion, beaten egg, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, salt, and pepper until well combined. Shape into 4 oval patties.
Cook the Patties: In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add the patties and cook until browned on both sides, about 5 minutes each side. Remove from the skillet and set aside.
Make the Gravy: In the same skillet, add sliced mushrooms and sauté until browned. Pour in the beef broth and bring to a simmer.
Thicken the Gravy: Stir in the cornstarch mixture to thicken the broth. Return the patties to the skillet and simmer in the gravy for 10 minutes, or until the patties are cooked through.
Serve: Spoon the mushroom gravy over the Salisbury steaks and enjoy with your choice of sides.
